Bristol Volksfest
Meets, Shows and Events
With the invite of free entry to the show myself and Merv Barnett made our way to Easter Compton for the annual Bristol Volksfest. We did have a little trouble getting free entry (Ian Walker had to leave his Model A in the main visitors car park and pay to get in) but after a phone call the jobsworth let us pass. We parked in our allocated spot, where we were later joined by two more local rods, then proceeded to examine the stalls spaced all around.
One thing about all VW shows is that they cater for everyone and make the event a total family affair. The Patina look has certainly caught on with the air-cooled crowd and to be honest looked really good. Looking around the show ground I was a little disappointed by the lack of Beetles standard or modified that used to support this event - Ovals being a favorite of mine. This event had spacious surroundings ,children's play areas, rock climbing, a fairground, lots of food stalls, live music - and as it was World Cup week a big screen TV to show the Saturday England's live game. In all the organizers had thought of everything, even the nice weather.

Matching Lambretta and Splittie.
